A trip to Paris would be remiss without exploring the cultivated neighbourhood of Saint-Germain-des-Près – one of the city’s many unique and historical quarters, now more known for its quaint museums, elegant galleries, and great shopping, intermixed with centuries-old cafes and memorable shops. Once it was home to great thinkers and artists, musicians and writers; all leaders in thought and culture. While the neighbourhood has been continuously modernized and gentrified over the decades, visitors can still find the historical charm that made this one of the city’s most distinct neighbourhoods.
Within this left bank quarter – and the 6th arr. as a whole – you can easily fill your day. It also makes for a wonderful neighbourhood to use as a base for your stay, albeit accommodation can run high in the Saint-Germain.
